Dealing With Slow Drains And Plumbing Issues In Your Home
Plumbing problems in your home can often be related to debris or material in the drain system slowing the water down as it passes through the pipes. Drain cleaning can help resolve these issues and restore the flow of water so the drains work the way they should inside your house.
Drain Problems
Many times a drain in your kitchen or bathroom will slow, and the water you are running down the drain may back up in the sink, shower, or tub. Most of the time, these slowdowns are caused by material in the drain pipe restricting the flow through the line. You may need a plumber or drain cleaning company to clean the pipes to restore system flow.
Drain cleaning can involve breaking up a blockage in a single line or cleaning the entire main drain line running through the home. The amount of work the system needs is determined after inspecting the drain line with a fiber optic camera to see what is going on.
If the blockage is small and localized, a plumbing snake can be used in the line to manually break up the clog and let the water and material move through the system. However, if the drain line has a lot of built-up material inside, the drain cleaning service or plumbing may need to take more severe steps and clean the entire inside of the drain line starting at the lowest point in the home.
Hydro Cleaning
A drain system with a lot of build-up in the lines may need cleaning that uses a system of high-pressure water inside the drain line to clean the walls of the pipes, break up blockages, and restore the flow through the system. The cleaning starts at the drain or sewer cleanout, where the main drain line meets the sewer system.
A high-pressure water line is inserted from the bottom of the drain system, working up into the drain line, while high-pressure water is sprayed inside the pipe. As the material is blasted off the walls of the drain line, it can move down the drain with the water and is carried out of the home.
Hydrojet cleaning is a very effective way to break up blockages and remove debris from below the problem area, and it often results in better-working pipes for many years because the insides are clean and smooth again. Homes that have a lot of grease, food particles, and other foreign material in the line may require the drain cleaning service to clean the entire line, and the cost can add up, but cleaning is often less expensive than replacing plumbing lines, and it can be an option in many situations.
